Digital Sketching
I always have such a hard time sketching in digital format just something about it restricts my hand from drawing the way their use to. But I am determined to change my ways and skillfully master digital sketching. Here's a little sketch I did tonight.

Silkscreen Printing
Learning a new media is always fun. I've challenged myself to learn the ways of silkscreen. It's a multi- process media with many separations, double checking and of course manual labor. But the process is fun from concept to final. Here's my process of my 1st silkscreen print.
Thumbnail
Master copy -in silkscreen this image is your guide making sure everything on your print line's up.
Master copy in hand and screen separations ready to be printed. Excuse the messy work space. =)
About half way here.
My final print
I started off with 20 and some got lost, ruined and mistakes happen easily. So my final count was about 11 good ones. Silkscreen is a very time consuming media but the outcome is amazing and as the artist I feel connected to each piece.
Thank you for reading, enjoy your sunday everyone !

Silkscreen Fun
This semester I'm finally taking silkscreen a technique I've been dying to learn. It very challenging but the outcome you can get is just beautiful. For our 1st project we could design anything we want with the teachers approval of course. I decided on my child of the woods thumbnail. Here is my process from thumbnail to clean up line work and finally my finished illustration. Now the fun begins separating each layer.

National Dog Day
In celebration of National dog day I decide to make a cute decorative custom portrait of all my dogs.
I first start off with a clean sketch and bring that into photoshop.
In photoshop the lasso tool is your best friend for fast clean shapes. I block out all the shapes and build on top of that.
Details can then be added on top of those solid shapes.
One of my scruffy models Skipper my poodle.
Minnie the other poodle
Samson the tuff chihuahua
Waffle my goofy dachshund.
And finally sweet maggie girl the Rottweiler.

August is full of Patterns
A well deserved update is needed. August has been a very busy month with moving and working there is never enough time. But I manage to sneak some sketches in =)
Working at Anthropologie I'm obsessed and inspired with patterns on dresses, stationary, shoes and kitchen ware. (Pretty much anything!) I made two little pattern sketches with a mixed media I'm exploring. Nothing to fancy just ink on top of gouache. Love the outcome to it.

Woodland Slumber
Woodland Slumber is a series of sleeping woodland critters. These are the preliminary sketches still deciding on what media to use digital or traditional.
Sketching day in SF
Went exploring around the city for a day of sketching and we decided on Japan town. Very relaxing and calm place to sketch. We even had a man play a flute while sketching it was perfect. I lately have been focusing on simplifying my illustrations and making it more decorative. Watercolor and ink are a very neat combination.
